The effect of any greenhouse gas depends on the increase in its volume in the atmosphere, the duration of its stay in the atmosphere and the wavelength of radiation absorbed by it.
Among greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide (CO2) is present in the largest amount in the atmosphere. The emission of greenhouse gases is mainly from combustion of fossil fuels, industries, motor vehicles, paddy fields, cattle grazing, refrigerators, air conditioners etc.
Although the most abundant gases in the atmosphere are nitrogen, oxygen, and organisms, they are not greenhouse gases because their molecule contains two atoms of the same element, such as nitrogen (N2) oxygen (O2) or the same. The atom of an element is found in its molecule.
According to a recent study, by the year 2100, temperatures in large parts of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh will reach life threatening levels if emissions do not decrease due to increasing global warming.
Researchers say that up to 30 percent of the population may be exposed to dangerous humid hot winds.

Possible consequences of global warming
- Melting of glaciers: Glaciers begin to melt due to the increase in temperature and their size decreases and the glaciers retreat.
- Changes in rainfall pattern: Temperature plays an important role in rainfall and formation of clouds. Therefore, due to increase in temperature, the pattern or pattern will also change, that is, if the rainfall is less than before, then it will start more than before. There will also be a change in the duration of rainfall.
- Increase in sea level: When the water obtained by melting of glaciers gets in the seas, then the sea level rises.
- Floodingding of rivers: Many perennial rivers originate from the glaciers and carry the glacier waters with them. If the rate of melting of glaciers will increase then the amount of water in the river will increase which can lead to flooding.
- Destruction of coral reefs: Coral reefs begin to be destroyed due to the rise of sea-water temperature. Presently about one-third of the coral reefs have been in crisis due to heat rise.
- Destruction of plankton due to rise in seawater temperature: Plankton is destroyed due to increasing seawater temperature. Plankton seawater are the primary organisms. The Alusian island ecosystem, which includes whales, sea lions, fishes, sea urchins, etc., has now shrunk due to lack of plankton.
- Increase in migration: If the sea level rises due to increase in temperature, coastal areas and islands will be submerged and the residents of the coastal region will be forced to migrate to the interior parts.
