Who discovered the proton:- The credit for Proton’s discovery goes to “Ernest Rutherford”.
But first the beam of this positive particle emanating from the atom was observed by Eugen Goldstein.
Rutherford later confirmed this particle and named it proton, rutherford is therefore credited with the discovery of the proton.
A proton is a positively charged subatomic particle, denoted by p. It has a mass of 1.6726219 × 10–27 kg, which is approximately equal to a neutron.
The magnitude of the charge on the proton is equal to the magnitude of the charge on the electron. But the charges present in these two are opposite to each other.
The number of protons present in the nucleus of each atom and the number of electrons revolving around the nucleus is equal, thus the positive charge and negative equilibrium is reached and each atom is neutral in its normal state.

The nucleus of all atoms consists of protons and neutrons, due to the attraction of the proton’s positive charge, the negatively charged electrons are bound to the atom and revolve around the nucleus.
That is, the proton also plays an important role in maintaining the structure of the atom.
Due to the presence of neutrons in the nucleus of atoms, more than one proton is bound by strong nuclear force, which is the most potent force.
This is the reason why, despite having a repulsion force due to the electric charge between the protons, they are bound together in the nucleus.
